Ciné-concert "Mauprat" at Les Bains-Douches de Lignières
Friday 27 November 2026 at 8 p.m., the Bath-Douches of Lignières host the cinema-concert "Mauprat"a new creation proposed within the framework of the George Sand Memorial 1876-2026.
Inspired by silent film by Jean Epstein, created in 1926 and adapted from the novel of George Sand, this cinema-concert plunges the public into an intense work, traversed by the drama, tension and emancipation of a powerful woman: Edmée.
Toured in the deeply romantic landscapes of Berry, between Saint-Severe, Glacier and Nohant, Mauprat A collection of themes dear to George Sand: freedom, inner strength, social relations and the construction of a female destiny.
Three virtuoso musicians serving a powerful story
To accompany these silent, fragile and centuries-old images, Gilles Chabanat give voice to the film with its Old electroacoustic. An ancient instrument with a deeply narrative character, this old one was brought to light with the complicity of a luthier.
Along with Nicolas Mingot and Yannick Hardouin, virtuoso musicians, Gilles Chabanat imagines a sound space capable of revealing the tensions of the narrative, its breaths and its shadow zones. A meeting between silent cinema, literature, Berrichon heritage and contemporary musical creation.

Created at Les Bains-Douches, Le Grand Chiberli takes its name from a Berry song that is very popular in the traditional environment. With this great ensemble, Grégory Jolivet and Daniel Langlois gather amateurs and passionate around the music in polyphony and dance music from Berry and Centre France.
